A Bit of History of Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Over 151 years ago on May 20, 1873, Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis created and patented work pants reinforced with metal rivets. This was the beginning of a company whose owners would become patrons of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Their descendants today are the predominant owners of Levi Strauss & Co. and in 1989 Chairman & CEO Walter A. Haas, Sr. donated $15 million through the Walter and Elise Haas Fund to build new facilities for the School of Business Administration. It was the largest gift to the university up to that time. The Regents then renamed the school the Haas School of Business in honor of that gift.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
