The Berkeley Haas Las Vegas Chapter presented its first Alumnus of the Year Award on November 17, 2012 to one of its distinguished local alumni at a private ceremony held at The Capital Grille in Fashion Show Mall.
The award was presented to Theodore B. Lee (Berkeley Law JD ’59, Haas MBA ’66) – President of Urban Land Company, a privately-held real estate investment & development firm in San Francisco and Las Vegas; and Chairman of the Eureka Casinos of Las Vegas and Mesquite, Nevada.
In 2011 Ted & Doris Lee donated $15 million to the UNLV College of Business – which has since been renamed the UNLV Lee Business School. The majority of the donation will endow 10 professorship chairs; the balance will establish scholarships, a business lecture series and visiting professorships. In Las Vegas the Lees have generously supported The Smith Center for the Performing Arts and at UC Berkeley they have endowed professorship chairs at the UC Berkeley School of Law and the Haas School of Business.

Also attending this event from Berkeley were: Leslie Kanberg, Director of Alumni Relations at the Haas School of Business and David Nakayama, Development Director of the Graduate Division at UC Berkeley. Ted also received a limited first edition Mark Twain publication from Dean Andrew Szeri of the Graduate Division at UC Berkeley.
